continued Mass Murder in our Midst

His last action was a foreshadowing to his most terrible act of the night that involved Candice Hetcher who was only eight. Candice is the daughter of Mrs. Alice Hetcher who owns three boarding houses in the red lantern district. She was last seen playing in the alley with some friends. The murderer was believed to have offered the child a doll in order to convince her into entering the room within the run down boarding house. Once inside, she began to struggle but like the others failed to get away. He then proceeded to drain the life from her form but only to the point of weakness, not death. Using the same knife as he used upon the others, he proceeded to slice gently into her chest above the heart-allowing her to feel the full extent of the pain. He placed her fingers within the blood forming and forced her to suckle the taste from her fingers. Before she had fully passed, he slit further into her chest and removed her still beating heart from her body, slicing it from her life-stream. The heart was never found and her blood remained to soak into the floorboards, staining them for all time.

Though these events happened several weeks past, the killer remains still at large and we find it necessary to relate the events to you so we may find who is responsible more easily. Two rewards have been posted. One is from the city courts, which is for 100 gold coins to whomever can provide information that will result in the arrest and eventual hanging of the murderer. The second reward is from the LaFloure family for 75 gold coins to whoever brings to them the man responsible, dead or alive. If you have any information regarding these murders, please either contact the city courts or myself Alisteir Pinache. Seven innocent lives lie in fresh graves and it is our only wish that the one who committed these atrocities will be found and properly punished.

Amore de L'ecureuil

This is a simple story of true romance and the grappling forces of nature. Marius Hantou was on his way home from examining some of his family history within the archives. The air was humming as the new spring blossoms began their steady bloom. There was a scent of love drifting through the air like spawns of pollen, unknown to our dear traveler. He whistled a merry tune and remarked on the lovely calling of the day when a shadow crossed his pass. His eyes were like those of a gentle fawn, full of curiosity and adoration as he gazed up at Marius. Fur lined his entire form and his nose twitched as though marking his affection. Marius cast his eyes down upon this strange squirrel and wondered what might be so interesting. The squirrel circled around him twice and then gazed up at him as Marius laughed, "What has brought you here today?"

The squirrel cocked his head to one side and chirped as he moved closer to Marius. A horrified expression passed over Marius' face as it dawned on him what the squirrel was now performing as he embraced his leg. The subtle noises of copulation rang through the air as his body flushed thoroughly. He turned his eyes upward wondering what he had done this day to deserve such a punishment. Attempting to shake the squirrel, still in a fleet of passion, from his leg he finds that all his actions to remove him are thwarted by the squirrels firm embrace. Dancing around the street, he shook with all his force and still the squirrel forced his passion. Several passers gazed out upon him as they broke out into peels of laughter. No one stopped to help him despite his plangent pleas. The sunlight started to fall upon the horizon as a crowd formed around this pair. Marius, overwrought with embarrassment, tried to regain his dignity by attempting to continue his way home but that simply compounded the laughter from the crowd.

The squirrel still in the embrace of passion started to find his love reluctant and gazed up at him with a lowered expression. Marius ignored the expression upon his face as he continued his way homeward. This discouraged our dear squirrel and he released his reluctant lover, scampering into the forest. The crowd continued to point and laugh as Marius, red faced and teary-eyed followed the squirrels and scampered home--followed by the ringing of laughter.
